DEAL works with people with Cerebral PalsyOr, as they say now, the cerebral
palsies - athetoid cerebral palsy,
for example, or spastic cerebral palsy.
People with cerebral palsy have difficulty making precise movements, which can make it difficult to speak or write. Proper positioning or seating, appropriate training, communication device or switch use training, exercise, and good teaching can all help. The performance difficulties of people with cerebral palsy sometimes lead to their being regarded as intellectually disabled. This is patently ridiculous. They may, however, have severe communication impairment, and here DEAL can usually assist them. |
